The design is inspired by Japanese joinery that interlock components with no hardware. There is hidden hardware used here, but only to facilitate both assembly and disassembly.

  • The three stretchers on the left fit into the slots on the uprights (three on each side).

  • The bottom two slotted shelves slide over the stretchers and ‘clothes pin’ connectors - interlocking seven of the ten components!

  • The top shelf connects the uprights by insertion into key slots.

  • The remaining shelves simply slide over the remaining connectors.

No additional hardware required: only a rubber mallet may be needed to snugly fit the three interlocking shelves.
