Made from solid black cherry with a clear hand rubbed oil finish.

Indigenous to eastern North America, black cherry heartwood is durable and resistant to decay and will age to a medium reddish brown.

The stool is made from both 5/4 and 6/4 black cherry.

The image taken in the shop shows a 5/4 black cherry plank in the rough next to the smoothly surface planed 1" thick plank used for the seat.  The finished stool illustrates how the color of the wood and grain are accentuated by the hand rubbed oil finish.
